Resume Builder is a free tool launched by LinkedIn to convert your LinkedIn profile into a resume. It was designed and developed by Yevgeniy (Jim) Brikman. The project was originally built for a LinkedIn HackDay in March, 2010 and won the "most likely to launch" award. A few months later it was launched on LinkedIn's experimental site, LinkedIn Labs.
This is an experimental tool, developed by the LinkedIn’s
internal team and is still under the testing/experimental phase.
How does resume builder work?
Log in to
your LinkedIn profile and click the LinkedIn resume builder.
Immediately
after the log in you can see a copy of your resume which contains all the
information from your LinkedIn profile.
There are 11 different templates to select from depending on your seniority and the style you like. You can also rearrange the sections of your resume by clicking the outline mode and even hide the irrelevant sections. You can save multiple copies of your resume and even control their privacy setting like your LinkedIn profile but to edit your resume you need to edit your LinkedIn profile first.
Why use resume builder?
It is always
difficult to work on your resume from scratch be it content, formatting or
other details. LinkedIn resume builder provides a simple solution to all these
problems. Also by using this you can share your resume through Facebook,
Twitter, LinkedIn, email or print. This will also motivate people to keep their LinkedIn profile updated so that their resume is ready in few seconds when ever they need.
